The Royal Canadian Army Cadet Program

Expedition

Expeditions develop knowledge on how to travel long distances in various environments. Army Cadets also learn how to take care of their field equipment. At a higher level, they can participate in longer and more difficult expeditions. These expeditions may include mountaineering, caving (exploring caves) and white water rafting.

Survival

Army Cadets participate in training in the bush in summer and winter. They learn how to build makeshift shelters and how to survive using what nature has to offer. This includes learning how to make a fire, find water, make themselves visible to rescue workers and many other useful skills.

Map and Compass

Army Cadets learn to use various means to find their way in the wilderness. Whether it is with maps and compasses, GPS technology or stars, Cadets will always find their way.

With over 57,000 Sea, Army & Air Cadets and over 9,000 Military & Civilian Staff serving in 1,075 Corps & Squadrons in 800 Communities across Canada this national program is helping many people achieve greatness.
Leadership

The Cadet Program helps participants progressively develop into adults who contribute positively to Canadian society as leaders, while instilling a lifelong appreciation of health and fitness.

Physical Fitness

Keeping Cadets active with different activities and friendly competitions. Cadets will participate in sports and take part in the Cadet Fitness Assessment and Incentive Program.

First Aid

Cadets will have the opportunity to take First Aid courses either at the a Cadet Training Center or at the Local Unit and upon completion they will receive a First Aid Qualification Certificate/Badge.

Pipes Band

Unlike the Sea and Air Cadets Program, the Army Cadets Program offers the Pipes & Drums Band in the historical tradition of the Canadian Military.

Abseiling

Scared of heights? If so, this activity is not for you! As an Army Cadet you will have the opportunity to try abseiling in a controlled enviroment provided by the Canadian Armed Forces or Certified Civilian Establishment.

Cold Weather Training

Physical Fitness

The Army Cadet Program offers many sports activities that are not available to other elements such as climbing, mountain biking and rafting. In addition to practicing these activities at the unit, several summer camps are offered to improve your skills in these disciplines. Each year, a few experienced Cadets can participate in a parachuting course.

Helping out within your community with different community services will give you skills that can be applied anywhere. This will help you build your community and yourself.
